The paper has been scorched (or accidentally set on fire)!

A "shift" is a dress that has strong lines. The classic version is sleeveless, knee-length, and features a boat neck. During the 1920s, flappers wore them adorned with fringe and beads. In the 1960s, these dresses had psychedelic flowers and bold prints, or could be the epitome of sophistication. There were made popular by Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Onassis and Twiggy.
